About Peter Dvorský

Peter Dvorsky has sung the leading lyric tenor roles in the Italian, French, and Slavic repertoire in houses all over the world, with the occasional foray into spinto roles. His musical talent was apparent at an early age and he began his studies at the Bratislava Conservatory. Immediately upon graduation, he became a member of the Bratislava National Theater and made his opera debut as Lensky in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin. Two years later, he won the Moscow Tchaikovsky Competition and as part of the prize, joined La Scala's Scuola di Perfezionamento. His Vienna State Opera debut was as the Italian Singer in Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier in 1996, followed the next year by his Metropolitan Opera debut as Alfredo in Verdi's La traviata. His Covent Garden debut was in 1978 as the Duke in Verdi's Rigoletto.
