Robin O'Neill

About Robin O'Neill

Veteran British musician Robin O'Neill is a prominent bassoonist and, of late, a conductor as well. He was a founding member of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and is now the principal bassoonist with the Philharmonia Orchestra. O'Neill is also an important educator, serving on the faculty of the Royal Academy of Music. He has a substantial recording catalog that includes albums by folk-pop songwriter Joni Mitchell; his recordings as conductor include one of Bach's Goldberg Variations, BWV 988 (2024), which he arranged for orchestra himself. O'Neill is a professor of bassoon at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
