Footloose (Soundtrack) [15th Anniversary Collectors' Edition]
Various Artists
The soundtrack to Footloose provides a readymade prom dance in one convenient package. It offers snappy R&B (Deniece Williams’ “Let’s Hear It for the Boy”), old-fashioned rock ’n’ roll (John Mellencamp’s “Hurts So Good”) and a steamy slow dance in Mike Reno & Ann Wilson’s “Almost Paradise”. Kenny Loggins’ title song still has the ability to get people dancing on tabletops, but it’s the smouldering pop rock of “I’m Free (Heaven Helps the Man)” that captures the hidden passions of the story’s small town.
