Gepe crafts the perfect soundtrack for drowsy mornings on Ciencia Exacta. The singer/songwriter builds his beatific miniatures from the relaxed swing of ‘50s cool jazz, the loping folk melodies that floated through ’70s rock and the warm ambiance of 21st-century indie pop. Infusions of bubblegum energy keep things from dissolving into a purely blissful haze. (Check out the hand-clapping bounce of “Hoy Dia Me Lanzo”.) But it’s gentle ballads like “Cine Tu Cama” that define this chilled-out trip.
