El Bloke Hills

El Bloke Hills

When Sech first broke out with 2019’s “Otro Trago”, the Panamanian artist brought a fresh R&B voice to a resurgent reggaetón and Latin trap scene. Further global hits followed and his influence continued, as numerous other romantic singers emerged and exploded in his wake. Since 2020’s powerhouse 1 of 1 album, his output has largely centred around singles, guest features and shorter-form projects. At just nine tracks long, including an interlude and two versions of the Jay Wheeler collab “Sad Gang”, El Bloke Hills offers fans a glimpse at where he stands creatively. He reinforces a mastery of sleek hooks on the synth-saturated “Reggaeton Drugs” and “Tus Labios”. Concurrently, he plays freely in genre spaces, from the dance pop of “Café Malibú” with Mora and Saiko to the swaggering trap of “Gafas Pal Sol” with Eladio Carrión. Yet the experimental choices of “Miura P400” and the aforementioned “Sad Gang” suggest he’s no longer interested in merely dominating existing styles but instead exploring further sonic worlds.
