Thomas Demenga has made music of the Baroque as well as of his own time something of a speciality, and it has enriched his music-making in both periods. Across nearly a decade, he released a series of albums that combine old music and the very contemporary—the old being the Bach cello suites. Here, he returns to these six astoundingly rich and expressive pieces and has rerecorded them to stand alone. His experience jumps out from every bar, his intimate knowledge of and passion for these suites evident everywhere, making for a supremely rewarding musical journey.
