An apocalyptic avalanche of noise and a sonic shellacking; Lonely The Brave’s second studio album is as rewarding as it is dense and challenging. It base jumps into its overwrought drama from the off—“Wait in the Car” and “Black Mire” could soundtrack a disaster movie—and the tension barely relents. Shining out from all the wrenching, delicious despair, however, comes the occasional blast of light. The do-or-die urgency of the thunderous “Rattlesnake” and slow burn yearning of “Tank Wave” is thrilling.
