Singer-songwriter and rapper Baby Tate infuses her music with a kinetic freedom that empowers her diverse audience. Born Tate Sequoya Farris in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1996, she specialises in just about everything creative—on top of being a classically trained vocalist, she also produces, engineers, dances and acts. Baby Tate was inspired after seeing her mother, singer Dionne Farris, experience industry success both collaboratively and as a solo artist. The self-described theatre kid has an innate knack for crafting and belting out earworm melodies. Her breakthrough project, 2020’s After the Rain, was highlighted by the Flo Milli-assisted “I Am”, which brimmed with positive self-affirmations. Baby Tate’s 2016 reworking of Toni Basil’s hit single “Hey, Mickey!” went viral more than five years after its release, while her guest appearance on fellow Atlanta musician JID’s 2022 song “Surround Sound” has been in the internet’s spotlight more than once. Baby Tate consistently connects with her listeners by providing uninhibited life anthems that fit neatly into their colourful lives.
