Bobby Vee

About Bobby Vee

Proto-teen idol Bobby Vee's big break occurred under unfortunate circumstances when his group, the Shadows, filled in for Buddy Holly after the singer's tragic death in a plane crash. Vee quickly went solo, and was supplied with a wealth of toe-tapping material by the cream of the Brill Building crop. After reaching the Top Ten with a revival of the Clovers' hit "Devil or Angel," Vee released a series of infectious hits including "Rubber Ball," "Take Good Care of My Baby," and the enduring "The Night Has a Thousand Eyes." Although his appeal waned as Beatlemania struck, Vee returned to the charts with "Come Back When You Grow Up" in 1967. He later crafted a solid career on the oldies circuit. ~ TiVo Staff
