About Trentemøller
Anders Trentemøller has been effortlessly bridging genres since the early 2000s, applying meticulous electronic detailing to brooding dream-pop songwriting. Born in 1972 in Vordingborg, Denmark, the longtime Copenhagen resident emerged as a key player in the minimal-techno scene with singles like 2007’s “Moan”, which paired glitch rhythms with Ane Trolle’s melancholy vocals. Then, in the 2010s, he pivoted away from the dance floor, pairing the dusky twang of groups like Mazzy Star with lean electronic productions, and collaborating with indie heavyweights like Blonde Redhead and Low. On 2016’s Fixion, he found inspiration in post-punk and EBM, evoking Depeche Mode and The Cure in songs like “November” and “River in Me”; with 2022’s Memoria, he retained the ethereal vibe (and ’80s-inspired bass melodies) while expanding the dimensions of his productions, letting shoegaze guitars and ambient synths swell skyward. No matter the style, Trentemøller’s music remains singularly—and movingly—atmospheric.
