Italy Honours Black Music
Apple Music
This year, in honour of Black Music Month, we’re exploring the undeniable impact of Black music and musicians around the world. Black music has influenced Italian artists since as far back as the late 1940s, when Italian artists took inspiration from giants like Louis Armstrong. In the years since, that root has become even more clear thanks to a new generation of artists—many of them second-generation immigrants from Africa, born and raised in Italy—who pull from Black American sounds like rap, R&B and soul to create their own new music, complete with an original Italian touch. Dive into our Black Music Month playlist, and if you hear something you like, save it to your library.
