Costa Cordalis' career proves that you don't have to be born on German soil to become a schlager star there. He comes from Greece, but seems to have felt the Greek pop scene was too small to contain his ambitions; he moved to Germany while still in his teens. Cordalis began his recording career in the ‘60s, but it wasn't until the ‘70s that he really made his mark. Like many schlager singers of the era, he was influenced by rock ‘n' roll, though his big, warm, welcoming voice was ideally suited to the bright, bouncy pop tunes that made him a celebrity in his adopted homeland.
