The title of Miguel's second album, Kaleidoscope Dream, captures his essence. Even before he released his debut LP in 2010, the Los Angeles-bred singer, songwriter and producer was filtering R&B through a trippy lens, producing airy reveries that owe as much to '80s electro and psychedelic funk as they do to classic soul. His liquid tenor is both sensual and deeply sexual, and his songs are rooted in the pleasures of mind, spirit and—especially—body. He sings of sin and salvation, sea and sun, “The Thrill” and “FLESH”, sparking near-hallucinogenic lust in listeners.
