Bass music’s masked man is full of dark textures and bright ideas on his fourth LP. “Fly 2” embodies an unsettled, often unsettling album by looping a dismembered vocal sample into a soundscape of glitches, tempo flips and dread while somehow remaining acutely hypnotic. Grime, garage, jungle and various strands of house are all deconstructed while the producer bounces between extremes of melodic immediacy (“Glass”) and erratic shapeshifting (Burial collaboration “Sweetz”).
