Puerto Rican heartthrob Elvis Crespo took the tropical beat of merengue to the top of the Latin pop charts. Originally a member of Grupo Manía, Crespo went solo in the late '90s and his smooth ballads quickly made him an international superstar. While he's best known for mixing classic merengue rhythms with bubbly Latin pop hooks, Crespo has also added his dramatic croon to slick bachata and reggaetón hits. He's also one of the few merengue idols to enjoy a successful career in both Spanish and English.
