The hues of Joep Beving’s Prehension are stark greys, beiges and blacks; however, the piece retains a spectrum full of hope and colour. Melancholy chords ring out in “Ab Ovo”, a lamenting melody appearing gracefully above. These challenging, minimalist songs say huge amounts with very little material, encouraging introspection and, hopefully, change.
