About Cub Sport
Cub Sport’s artful pop music is fuelled by honesty. That’s been the unifying principle for the band’s music ever since Brisbane singer/songwriter/producer Tim Nelson started writing songs for the project in 2010. The group—which also includes drummer Dan Puusaari and multi-instrumentalists Zoe Davis and Sam "Bolan" Netterfield—has changed shape over the years. But their adventurous, kaleidoscopic arrangements and Nelson’s open-hearted lyrics have been a constant since their 2016 full-length debut, This Is Our Vice. And over the years, the songs have only become more welcoming, more gracious, more real. Nelson told Apple Music that the bare-bones emoting of the band’s sparse, ’80s-inflected 2020 album, LIKE NIRVANA, was a way of grappling with “things that I’ve probably been scared of expressing” in the past. It's a generous record from a band that’s never been afraid to share their most intimate thoughts and fears with the world.
