Soulfully belting out “Haram” in duet with Hael Husaini on the Anugerah Juara Lagu stage in 2019, Dayang Nurfaizah proved once again why she’s Malaysian pop royalty. But her journey hasn’t always been easy. While the moving R&B ballad “Seandainya Masih Ada Cinta”—featured on her second album in 2001—launched her into a new realm of popularity, lawsuits and disagreements amongst her management team disrupted her creative production for a number of years. In spite of this, Nurfaizah has always displayed an unshakable spirit and resilience fitting of an R&B diva, adding new gems to her already large catalogue of hits.
