Ella

With her signature rasp and natural feel for heavy melodies, Ella’s career was inevitable. Having built her legend fronting the hard rocking Ella & The Boys while still in her teens, Ella (born in 1966) went solo in 1988 and has since knocked out one iconic album after another. It was a truly deserved honour when she stood resplendent on the opening ceremony stage to soulfully deliver the 1998 KL Commonwealth Games theme song, “Standing in the Eyes of the World”. Even with her head-banging days behind her, Ella’s countless hits—old and new—remain revered today. Long live the Queen of Rock!
