Raspy, rascally sing-alongs come easily to Dune Rats, a slacker pop-punk trio from Brisbane, Australia. Powered by singer/guitarist Danny Beus and drummer/songwriter BC Michaels, the band have carved out a larger-than-life party-loving persona on brashly catchy tracks like 2020’s cartoonish character study “Too Tough Terry”, and 2021’s “UP”, a bubblegum ode to staying in bed. But Dune Rats are deceptively productive, too, founding their own label (Ratbag) and claiming two consecutive albums atop the Aussie charts. The first, 2017’s fuzz-caked The Kids Will Know It’s B******t, lived up to its title with a knowing smirk aimed squarely at the troublesome, six-pack-towing teen inside us all.
