Pink Sweat$: Future Generation
For the fourth phase of Apple's 2021 Black History Month celebration, we turn our focus to the next generation of leaders, younger creatives who are only just beginning to walk in their purpose. Philadelphia’s Pink Sweat$, though decorated as a songwriter and producer, is an artist who’s only scratched the surface of his potential. The Apple Music Up Next alum’s 2021 debut album PINK PLANET features plenty of songs about love, but also quite a few about the person he’s working hard to become. Pink Sweat$’s Black History Month playlist likewise contains timeless declarations of love like Whitney Houston's “I Will Always Love You” (“Whitney showed me at an early age that I could be a Black artist who loved and sang pop music,” he says) and also anthems of hope like Cordae and Chance the Rapper's “Bad Idea”. “This record gives me hope and revives my fighting spirit,” Pink Sweat$ says. “Which we all need right now. There are better days ahead.”
