Calling cards rarely feel as immediate as Troye Sivan’s 2023 hit “Rush”, an in-the-moment celebration of dance-floor infatuation. The song won two ARIA Awards for Melbourne’s Kaelyn Behr, aka Styalz Fuego, who co-wrote and co-produced it. But it’s far from a fluke in Behr’s impressive catalogue: The in-demand sound-smith and songwriter has brought his versatile touch to dance-minded Aussie acts like The Aston Shuffle, Peking Duk and Dom Dolla, while also bringing out the best in idiosyncratic solo artists like G Flip and Mallrat. And on the international front, Behr proves as natural a fit for Imagine Dragons’ sing-along pop/rock as he is for Khalid’s coolheaded R&B and Oliver Tree’s new-generation emo. His continued collaboration with Troye Sivan, meanwhile, has yielded a string of breathy gems that seem to dance on air.
