The Edge

About The Edge

A founding member of U2, The Edge is one of his generation's most influential guitarists thanks to his innovative playing technique and use of echo and other effects. Along with his role as lead guitarist, his contributions as a songwriter, keyboard player, and vocalist helped define U2's sound as it spanned the atmospheric post-punk of 1983's War, the arena-sized anthems of 1987's The Joshua Tree, 1991's electronic-drenched Achtung Baby, and streamlined later albums like 2000's All That You Can't Leave Behind. U2's record-breaking tours, numerous Grammys, and inclusion in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame made them one of the world's most accomplished and creative rock bands, and The Edge has been a vital part of that success. Outside of U2, The Edge pursued charity work and screen and stage projects, including 2011's hit Broadway musical Spider Man: Turn Off the Dark.
