Mike Shinoda & Joe Hahn of LINKIN PARK: Finding Joy

“Probably most of my joyful experiences have been made possible because of my music and art,” LINKIN PARK’s Mike Shinoda tells Apple Music. “Or happened while experiencing, making, or performing it. It’s just interwoven into every day.” Shinoda got together with bandmate Joe Hahn to curate a Finding Joy playlist that features a host of all-time rabble-rousers like Van Halen, Beastie Boys, House of Pain and Metallica, groups they say were able to channel their emotions into song in a way LINKIN PARK has always aspired to. “Music is primal, intellectual, hypnotic and much more,” Hahn adds. “Making music with my friends gets things off my chest. It creates a connection that translates into song. A song has a ripple effect from its original intention to what it means to whomever hears it and claims it as their own.”
