About BINI
BINI boldly reinvent the P-pop tradition with vibrant dance pop, sophisticated choreography and messages of female empowerment. With a name derived from the Tagalog word for “young lady”, the octet emerged in 2020 after an exhaustive talent search and training process overseen by Star Hunt Academy (which also helped develop the successful boy band BGYO). As with their K-pop counterparts, BINI achieve a deliciously cosmopolitan sound by pairing EDM, R&B and hip-hop hooks with melodies rooted in Filipino cultural heritage. Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Sheena and Jhoanna launched their career with an electropop-informed reimagining of the early-’90s Filipino novelty hit “Da Coconut Nut” before sending 2023’s “Pantropiko” and 2024’s disco-flavoured “Salamin, Salamin” to the top of Billboard’s Philippines Songs, a chart frequently dominated by non-native artists. These successes proved impossible for international audiences to ignore. Numerous publications, including Teen Vogue, have since sung the praises of BINI’s infectiously uplifting teen-pop anthems.
