About David Lee Murphy
Singer-songwriter David Lee Murphy broke wide in 1994 when his first single, “Just Once,” was featured in the Luke Perry rodeo biopic, 8 Seconds. ∙ “Dust on the Bottle,” from his 1994 Gold album, Out With a Bang, was his first No. 1 Billboard Country chart hit. ∙ An in-demand songwriter as well as performer, Murphy wrote the No. 1 hit “Living in Fast Forward” for Kenny Chesney, and Jason Aldean topped the charts with his “Big Green Tractor.” ∙ The 2004 album Tryin’ to Get There took its title from one of the four tunes he cowrote with country legend Waylon Jennings. ∙ Kenny Chesney lured Murphy out of a 14-year recording hiatus in 2018 by offering to helm the album No Zip Code with Grammy Award-winning producer Buddy Cannon. ∙ In 2018, 23 years after notching his first No. 1, Murphy topped the Billboard Country chart for a second time with “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright.”
