Dr. Dre: Influences

Dr. Dre: Influences

Dr. Dre found his production footing in the early ‘90s by using in-studio musicians to build a wall of sounds reproduced from ‘70s funk hits, spawning the G-funk era. In his toolbox were the robotic synth darts of Zapp, as well as the deep basslines of groups like Parliament and the Ohio Players. Dre's techniques were also pushed by the massive waves of samples used by his peers, like Public Enemy's production team, The Bomb Squad.
