The monster riffage of the opening “Bitter Taste” sets a bruising tone for Three Days Grace’s third record. The post-grungers keep it up with “The Good Life”, a relentless, percussive hard rock track with a fist-pumping chorus tailor-made for head-banging. Elsewhere, the band reveal their more nuanced songwriting tendencies on “Last to Know”, crafting heartrending, melancholy melody over glittering, gloomy piano. And the jangly verse guitar lines of “Lost in You” offset the devastation of its painful subject matter.
