In a follow-up to Now This, master bassist Gary Peacock returns (at 82) with pianist Marc Copland and drummer Joey Baron for a ruminative set. Peacock gets a broad and sumptuous bass sound, not least on the Alex North ballad “Spartacus”, one of only two non-originals. His unaccompanied intros on “Tempei Tempo” and the closing title track are captivating, as is his duet with Baron on the drummer’s “In and Out”. From exploratory swing to haunting, out-of-tempo meditations, the trio displays an unshakable accord.
