Beck, Bogert & Appice

About Beck, Bogert & Appice

Jeff Beck, bassist Tim Bogert, and drummer Carmine Appice came together in the aftermath of the guitarist dissolving the Jeff Beck Group. He wanted them as early as 1972, but following an accident in which Beck suffered a fractured skull, and the commitment to Cactus by his prospective bandmates, the threesome weren't able to get together until 1973. The power trio immediately set to work on recording, releasing Beck, Bogert & Appice to solid sales that year. A much-sought-after live album was subsequently issued in Japan only. While working on a second studio effort, the famously mercurial Beck abruptly dissolved the trio in early 1974. Despite several reunion one-offs, they never officially reunited. In September 2023, Rhino Entertainment released the four-disc box set Beck, Bogert & Appice: Live 1973 & 1974 that the guitarist had been preparing at the time of his death.
