About Sander van Doorn

Since emerging in the 2000s, Sander van Doorn has mined the worlds of techno and festival-sized EDM to develop his own versatile, exhilarating brand of electronic music. Born Sander Ketelaars in the Netherlands in 1979, van Doorn recorded his first offerings in 2004, initially leaning into a tech-trance style while also gaining fame as a prolific DJ. After earning further buzz by remixing popular singles like Arctic Monkeys’ “When the Sun Goes Down”, he consummated his rise with his 2008 debut album, Supernaturalistic. Preceded by his pulsing single “The Bass”, the project reaffirmed his knack for intricate rhythms. Van Doorn started out in the realm of house, but by the 2010s, he’d leaned into EDM thrills, fusing melodic hooks with exuberant electronic beats on songs like “Gold Skies” with Aleesia. And yet, house releases like Eleve11 (2011) and SPECTRVM (2017) proved he could still concoct labyrinthine rhythms with epic climaxes. He’s adaptable enough that putting him into one genre hasn’t been easy—sliding him into rave playlists is.
