Eschewing the dizzying heights often associated with the medium, Kelly Lee Owens has honed an esoteric brand of electronic music that elicits a mantra-like calm. “Move body / Flow in the body / Move / Shift” she instructs on the pounding, hypnotic “Release”. It’s a motif that informs the slow-burning “Re-Wild”, accentuated by Owens’ voice: one moment a hushed chant, the next a crystalline soprano. It’s also a manifesto for her sense-penetrating oeuvre—blending minimal techno with dream-pop, motorik and drone—that includes collabs with fellow avant explorers Jon Hopkins and Jenny Hval.
