Outside of bold originals like “To Be Young, Gifted and Black”, genre-blurring pianist and singer/songwriter Nina Simone also made daring reinterpretations of others' work. Those include a cascading version of the jazz standard “Good Bait” and a soul-licked take on Billy Hill's “The Glory of Love”. Even her most left-field choices pay off, as when she comes close to rapping on a brazen, jazzy overhaul of Prince's “Sign ‘O' the Times”.
