Diam's

About Diam's

In her teens, Parisian rapper Diam’s set out to break the glass ceiling of the male-dominated French hip-hop scene. She enjoyed nearly two decades of commercial success before laying down her mic. • Diam’s began penning lyrics at 14, and in just one year, she became a respected figure on the Paris rap circuit. • After inking a deal with EMI, Diam’s made her 2003 major label debut with Brut De Femme, which nabbed Rap/Hip-Hop Album of the Year at the Victoires de la Musique. • Her 2006 album Dans ma bulle hit No. 1 on the French charts, earned diamond certification, and became the best-selling French album of 2006. The LP also positioned Diam’s to win the MTV Europe Music Award for Best French Act. • Behind the scenes, Diam’s struggled with her mental health. Inspired by a friend, she recited a Muslim prayer that saved her life and motivated her to convert to Islam in 2008. • Diam’s retired after the release of 2009’s S.O.S., which sold more than 300,000 copies and earned her two NRJ Music Awards nominations. • In 2020, she launched a travel agency for Muslims making pilgrimages to Mecca.
