Rauhan Malik

Kashmiri singer, producer and composer Rauhan Malik has a talent for elevating stories of his home with folk, rock and pop aesthetics like few others can. A resident of Sopore, near Kashmir’s capital Srinagar, Malik also spent time in New Delhi and Noida while honing his craft, releasing the Kashmiri folk-informed Hindi song like “Raasta” in 2019 via Stalwart Music Factory, a label he co-founded. Although Malik would soon find larger label support, releasing the wistful “Khatt” the same year via Artiste First, he also focused on collaborating with other Kashmiri artists. With Stalwart Music Factory, he brought together Faheem Abdullah, Fatima Shamim and Toyyibah Ayub Mir for an evocative interpretation poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s “Hum Dekhenge” in 2020. Such collaborations spotlighting Kashmiri elements earned Malik wider audiences, from “Jaan Wandiyo” with Arslan Nizami in Koshur language in 2023 and the breakout pop-rock love song “Ishq”, led by Faheem Abdullah, in 2024.
