About Sam i
Producer, DJ, and director Sam Spiegel worked with some impressive names in both the music industry and beyond, collaborating with Kanye West, David Byrne, and Karen O as well as scoring commercials for Converse, Levi's, and many others. After over a decade of working under various aliases, Spiegel took on the stage name Sam I for his first official solo album, 2020's star-studded album Random Shit from the Internet Era. Spiegel grew up in Bethesda, Maryland, interested in music, film, and art from a young age. As an adult, he developed a talent for collaboration, bringing established artists into his orbit for appearances on The Spirit of Apollo, the 2009 debut album from his project N.A.S.A. Spiegel continued this model of creating music on projects like Maximum Hedrum, and even brought frequent guest stars on board when he began releasing music under his given name in 2016. While keeping busy with directing films, scoring commercials and video games, and producing tracks for other artists, Spiegel stockpiled a collection of his own songs made with famous friends. Many of these tracks ended up on his 2020 album Random Shit from the Internet Era, a 13-song release that featured Doja Cat, Sia, Anderson .Paak, and many others. ~ Fred Thomas
