About SHY Martin
Swedish electro-pop singer-songwriter SHY Martin fuses vulnerable lyrics with massive festival-ready melodies. • Born Sara Hjellström in Lerdala, Sweden, the singer was inspired by Bon Iver, Coldplay and Ed Sheeran. She signed with EMI at 17 after winning a songwriting contest. • Shortly after attending Musikmakarna songwriting school, Martin got her big break by cowriting and singing on Mike Perry’s 2016 hit “The Ocean”. The single topped the Swedish charts, went Top 40 in the UK, and earned gold certification in the US. • Martin continued cowriting dance singles for popular artists, including The Chainsmokers’ “All We Know”, Kygo’s “First Time” (featuring Ellie Goulding) and Bebe Rexha’s “(Not) The One”. • Her debut EP, Overthinking, dropped in 2018, followed by another, Sad Songs, in 2020.
