Back in October 2021, Joy Orbison celebrated the release of his long-playing project still slipping vol. 1 by inaugurating our biweekly Selects playlist—in which DJs and producers showcase their favourite tracks of any given moment, new or old. Now the UK producer, born Peter O’Grady, is back to update his tracklist with a slate of new tunes. “I think it's me making sense of my influences at the moment,” he tells Apple Music. “It's quite broad, I guess, but seems to make sense in my head.” His inclusions are indeed as wide-reaching as ever, folding in classic IDM from LFO, experimental rock from Durutti Column and Arto Lindsay, recent house and techno, and Joy O's own “pinky ring”. “I had a load of ideas and music that didn't quite fit into the concept I had with still slipping vol. 1, so this is the start of getting those bits out there,” he says of his latest single.
