Overmono (aka the brotherly London duo of Tom and Ed Russell) have spent the past few years building a reputation as some of dance music’s most reliable producers. They make tracks that alternate between deconstructing club music to its essence and scaling it up for maximum punch, masterfully sampling and flipping vocals into irresistible earworms on top of deeply thrumming, rubbery bass and synth lines. It’s no wonder the May 2023 arrival of their full-length debut, Good Lies, has been met with such high expectations. To mark the occasion, they assembled a wide-ranging set of Selects—the playlist in which DJs and producers share their favourite tracks of any given moment—that includes classic D’n’B from Photek, gentle passages from Talk Talk, hip-hop from Lil Yachty and Baby Keem, and all sorts of scattered electronic experiments from DJ Python, Andy Stott and plenty more. “This is where mine and Ed’s heads were at in the closing stages of wrapping up the album,” Tom tells Apple Music. “We had a few tracks of ours on rotation to make sure we were totally happy with them, and then had some other artists which we were listening to so much whilst being on the road.” Hear all their Selects, and add any favourites to your library.
