About KnowKnow
Having earned international recognition for Chinese hip-hop through Chengdu four-piece Higher Brothers, rapper KnowKnow (also known as DZKnow, or simply DZ) turned to solo work in late 2019, releasing debut album, Mr. Enjoy Da Money, in December that year. His style -- delivered in a fusion of Sichuanese dialects, Mandarin, and English -- retained the dynamism he displayed under the Higher Brothers moniker and, combined with a larger-than-life personality and surprising vocal dexterity, enabled him to produce vibrant material for the world stage. With two albums and a mixtape under his belt as part of the Higher Brothers, Chinese rapper KnowKnow (born Dīng Zhèn) had established himself as one of the key players in China's rap scene, proving his mettle through the late 2010s with punchy raps, infectious choruses, and a distinct lyrical style. Following the release of the group's internationally successful sophomore album, Five Stars, KnowKnow set to work on a solo venture, set to be released later that year. Adding "Mr. Enjoy Da Money" and "Mafia Cashier" to his already-extensive list of nicknames ("Chinese Biggie" being a fan favorite), the rapper used his solo venture to embrace his colorful personality, delivering hype-inducing braggadocio over vibrant, varied productions. Overflowing with personality, Mr Enjoy Da Money arrived in mid-December with a smorgasbord of styles: KnowKnow proved equally comfortable on the breakneck trap of "Face Power," the boom-bap modernization of "Role Playing Game," and the guitar-driven balladry of "I Love You 3000 III." ~ David Crone
