Thirteen years after their last album, Busted ditch pop-punk and reemerge as a slick synth trio. Like the album’s LA-at-dusk artwork, “New York”’s gloomy electro pulse might have been pulled from a Michael Mann movie, while “On What You’re On”’s robo-disco is so convincing it could be Daft Punk. Largely though Night Driver is electronic pop buoyed by an injection of funk and the one artefact they’ve shrewdly salvaged from their past: a knack for unshakeable tunes.
