About Ángela Aguilar
Mexican-American singer Ángela Aguilar began performing at age three, when she sang on her grandfather’s farewell tour. ∙ Aguilar’s grandparents are Mexican music and acting superstars Antonio Aguilar and Flor Silvestre; her father is Latin Grammy-winning musician-songwriter Pepe Aguilar. ∙ In 2012, she released her debut album, Nueva Tradición, on which she collaborated with her older brother, Leonardo. ∙ Her performance of “La Llorona,” from Primero Soy Mexicana, drew a standing ovation at the 2018 Latin Grammy Awards ceremony. ∙ Primero Soy Mexicana was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Regional Mexican Music Album. ∙ In 2019, she covered the A Star Is Born power ballad “Shallow,” with Lady Gaga’s blessing.
