Abdul Hannan

Abdul Hannan has a voice to make hearts melt—and he knows it. The singer-songwriter (and software engineer) has released a string of atmospheric singles, each with a single-word title, since making his recording debut in 2020. His brooding, soft-spoken croon is always the focus, whether on simple acoustic ballads or gently uplifting electro-pop. Tunes such as 2021’s “Haaray” and its smooth, entrancing chorus put the Lahore-raised artist on Pakistan’s map. But it was his collabs with producer Rovalio that proved to be his breakthrough. The duo’s work on 2022’s “Iraaday”, with its languid ambience, hand-clap percussion and simple guitar riff, was rewarded with millions of streams. The same went for their other 2022 hit “Bikhra”, a romantic R&B-influenced number with an ear-snagging sax line. Hannan joined forces with producer Baig on 2022’s “Siyah”, which slinks between blown-out bass and skittering rhythms, and singer Annural Khalid on 2023’s gentle “Kehdena”. Deeply rooted in Urdu poetry, Hannan’s lyrics revolve around love and heartbreak: appropriate themes for the self-described “Pakistani heartthrob”.
