Esteban Gabriel

Singer Esteban Gabriel has gained attention with his “trap corridos” that blend 21st-century hip-hop with traditional norteño music. ∙ After teaching himself to play six-string acoustic guitar by watching videos, he made his professional musical debut with the Houston trap corrido act Grupo Equilibrio. ∙ He formed his own group, Esteban Gabriel y La Mala Influencia, and shot the viral 2019 video “Hay Niveles” in a friend’s garage. ∙ In October 2019, he released his debut album, Tragos y Cigarros, featuring such online hits as “Maryjane y Blancanieves” and “Piel de Seda.” ∙ Veteran Houston rapper and activist Trae tha Truth made a guest appearance on Gabriel’s 2020 single “Me Ven Manejando.”
