About McFly

With their hooky love songs, the English pop-rock band McFly became UK superstars in the 2000s, scoring seven No. 1 hits. • Their name is an homage to Michael J. Fox’s character Marty McFly in the 1985 film Back to the Future. • McFly’s 2004 debut album Room on the 3rd Floor, debuted at No. 1 on the UK charts. It landed them in the Guinness Book of World Records as the youngest-ever band to have a debut album enter the charts in the top position—a distinction previously held by The Beatles. The LP also yielded two No. 1 UK singles. • McFly’s sophomore effort, Wonderland, also reached No. 1, making them the youngest band to top the UK album charts twice. The album spawned two more chart-topping singles. • In 2006, the band dropped their third album, Motion in the Ocean, which added three more No. 1 UK singles to their tally. That same year, they appeared as themselves in the film Just My Luck, starring Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine, and released an album of the same name (composed largely of previously released songs) in the US. • McFly teamed with two members of the UK pop-punk band Busted to form the Supergroup McBusted in 2013. They toured the following year and released a self-titled album that went Top 10 on the UK charts. • The group returned in 2020 with Young Dumb Thrills, their first album in nearly a decade. It reached No. 2 on the UK charts.
