An up-and-coming St. Louis rapper aligned with Tech N9ne and his growing Strange Music empire, Stevie Stone hit the scene a few years back with New Kid Comin' and continues his rowdy-yet-witty approach on Rollin' Stone. With an aggressive rhyme style somewhat reminiscent of early Mystikal, he growls, threatens, and boasts over an array of headbang-inducing, 808-punctuated tracks. With a few exceptions (the dreamy "My Remedy," the reflective tale "My Life," and the Auto-Tuned "2 Far"), the vibe here is overwhelmingly rambunctious and upbeat, especially on bangers like "Keep My Name out Your Mouth" and the Onyx/M.O.P.-esque "Mosh." Guest features come from likeminded homies such as Krizz Kaliko, Kutt Calhoun, Yelawolf, Big Scoob, Bernz, and Tech himself, on the appropriately titled "808 Bendin'." It's a rock-solid sophomore album from an emcee on the rise; don't miss the discount store–heist epic "Dollar General."
