As Super Plage, Montreal producer Julien Henry-Leblanc builds sunny, languid electro-pop vibes with a touch of disco and funk. He manages to do much the same when selecting the tracks on his After Party DJ mix, which favors music from his native Quebec. Some of these songs come from iconic Quebecois singer-songwriters such as Jean Leloup and Daniel Bélanger, whose tracks have been remixed into more danceable edits here—fun surprises for fans of francophone music new and old. But where the mix really finds its groove is as it veers toward modern dance-floor moments in tunes like Miro and Ariane Moffatt’s “Quitter la ville,” Valaire’s upbeat bop “Tote Bag,” and Charlotte Cardin’s French version of “Confetti,” which, ironically, is about getting to the party—and then wanting to get the hell out of there.
