Baltimore-raised Shordie Shordie has spent much of his career dropping full-length albums with Murda Beatz, but on his 2024 effort Breath of Fresh Air, he expands his crew of producers and builds a sound that is leaner, funkier, and more diverse. On the follow-up to 2023’s Memory Lane 2, he showcases his inimitable flow, which can move from double-time displays of verbose fireworks to warbly croons that place him in a similar space as slick-voiced superstars like LUCKI and 03 Greedo, who lends his vocal skills to “DND.” On “Güd 2 Me,” he sings over an alt-pop-inspired groove, full of warm guitar chords and a poppy drumbeat. He imagines his life alongside a girl he’s lusting after, picturing dates, special treatment at his shows, and more, before realizing all that matters is one simple question: “But would you be good to me?”
