Guitar-laden tracks like “Die, Die My Darling” (The Misfits) and “Sabbra Cadabra” (Black Sabbath) find Metallica paying homage to their roots while maintaining their own thrash-soaked sound born of wailing solos and threatening vocals. And “Whiskey in the Jar” is a jovial tribute to Thin Lizzy.
