Mexican guitarists Rodrigo y Gabriela start from a flamenco base and advance in a dazzling array of directions that seem to wildly expand the possibilities for the acoustic guitar. 11:11 offers a unique view of the duo’s musical makeup, with each track dedicated to a different artist they admire. There aren’t many other albums that can do justice to both the ominous intimations of an homage to Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell (“Atman”) and the roiling turbo-tango touches of “Hora Zero,” their tribute to Argentinian accordionist Ástor Piazzolla.
